Protect our nation, Lord, while we're awake:
attune us to your word and truth,
set our hearts on what is just
and our hands to serving others' needs...
Watch over us while we sleep, Lord:
be the light to pierce our darkness,
our sentry through the night
and sweet blessing in our dreams...
Give us rest and sleep and peace, Lord,
until the the break of day,
until the light of dawn awakens us
and a new day has begun...
