maybe like tonight,
I just need some peace and quiet,
the surety of your presence by my side,
and the consolation of trusting
that in the midst of everything,
you wait for me,
you're there for me,
your ears, your heart are open to me,
to treasure what I have to say
even if I stumble in saying it...

maybe like tonight,
I just need some time to trust
that you reach out to me,
you hold me,
you catch me when I'm falling,
you guide me to the right path,
you never leave my side...
Sometimes, Lord,
maybe like tonight,
I need a simple song
to help me pray,
to help me trust
that you love the song I sing,
that you sing along with me,
that together,
with one voice,
we find our harmony
in peace,
in prayerful peace
on a night
just like tonight...
Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me when I fall asleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
