You might think, Lord
(in fact, I'm sure you do!)
you might think that at least during Lent
I'd be doing a little better
dealing with some of my weaknesses,
my character flaws and bad habits
- but we both know that's not the case...
It's Lent!
A whole special season set apart for me
to root around in my heart and weed out
whatever has no business growing there...
It's Lent, Lord!
The perfect time for an interior spring cleaning,
for dusting off what I've not paid attention to,
for cleaning and polishing what's soiled and tarnished,
for organizing and reordering my priorities,
for pitching out what I don't need
and making room for what I need the most...
It's Lent, Lord!
And I know you're more than ready
to help me draw me closer to your side,
to help me take an honest inventory
of my life and my possessions
and right what's wrong in my thoughts,
to mend what's broken in my relationships
and to heal what's wounded in my heart...
It's Lent, Lord!
And your grace abounds,
ready to strengthen me where I'm weak,
repair the chinks in my human nature
and change my bad habits to good ones...
It's Lent, Lord! You're right by my side,
ready to help, to help me grow
in faith, in hope, in love:
open my eyes, my ears and my mind,
open my prayer, my heart and my soul
to your Spirit, your wisdom and grace,..
Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Create In Me by Jay Stocker
Create in me a pure heart, O God, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
So I can be holy, so I can be clean before you, Lord.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
So I can be holy, so I can be clean before you, Lord.
So I can be holy, so I can be clean before you, Lord,
before you, Lord, clean before you, Lord.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, O God,
