He meets people right where they are in their lives: not in some coulda/shoulda/woulda fantasy but right in their present moment with all its problems, joys, mistakes, hopes, rough edges and prayers...
Lord,
help me meet people where they are:
not in my grudging memories,
not in my biased judgements,
not in my anger and envy -
but simply where they are right now...
Help me meet people as you do, Lord:
with arms wide open,
with the grace of mercy,
with the desire for peace...
And, Lord, help me meet people
as I'd have them meet me:
with an open mind,
with a welcoming heart,
with compassion and understanding...
As you meet me in your mercy, Lord,
help me meet others today:
with a share of the blessings you've shown me
and given to me to share...
Amen.
