Pause for Prayer: THURSDAY 10/28

We pass through days and nights, Lord,
with secret fears and grief,
bearing burdens others miss,

even those who live right by our side...

How heavy are the hearts, the souls
of those within our homes and right next door,
those who work and go to school with us,
who suffer in their silence...

But we all know the pain
of holding in our hurt
while others have no clue
of all that aches deep in our hearts...

So, help me, Lord, be gentle,
compassionate and comforting
of all whose paths cross mine,
whose burdens are as many and as heavy
as the ones I bear myself...

Help me be tender, tending others’ grief
and binding up their wounds,
'til restoring one another
heals and makes us whole again...

And when my neighbor reaches out
to ease the pain that's mine,
open wide my heart to welcome
every gift that comes my way...

Amen.
