if only she, if only we
might be more faithful to your light

sent to guide us, stand beside us

to the oceans white with foam...

well, sweet for me but not for all,
not for those who've soured on her unkept promise
of liberty and justice for all - but not for all,
for some and even many -but still too many wait
for what others take for granted:
your endowment to your sons and daughters,
rights we name self-evident, inalienable and true,
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
in a homeland, home sweet homeland,
sweet for all, not just for some...
God, bless America, the land we love:
stand beside us and guide us,
with your light from up above,
the light of justice, truth and grace...
