Lord, I truly believe
that through the gift of your mercy
I shall one day meet and know again
all those I've loved throughout my life
and all those, in turn, who have loved me...
I have no idea how that will happen
but I truly believe that it can happen
and, in your mercy, will happen
when your generous and merciful love
gathers us all together again
in the lasting joy of your kingdom...
We are meant, created and fashioned to be:
overwhelmed, transformed and infused with your grace,
purified, consumed, engulfed by your mercy,
enlightened, transfigured, aglow in your glory...
In you shall we all become as one:
our sins forgiven, our disputes resolved,
our grudges forgotten, our resentments let go,
our anger tamed, our wounds finally healed,
our true selves revealed in surrender to you...
The mercy, peace and joy you promise
is nothing less
than the peace you call us to make even now,
the mercy you call us to share with each other
and the joy that comes when we live by your word
in prayerful hope of a time to come
when we're all one in you,
in your arms, in your love, for ever...
Give us the grace to live now, O Lord,
the mercy, the peace and the joy
of the life you promise and hold in store
for those you have called to your heart...
Protect us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.
