At the beginning of November each year
we remember and pray for those who have gone before us:
a bittersweet experience for many of us...
As All Souls Day come to an end, pause again and remember
the names of those who have died and for whom you want to pray...
Then pray these words adapted from the 1069 Funeral
Rite:
Peace be with those who have left us,
with those who have gone to God:
may they be at peace,
may they be with God...
may they be at peace,
may they be with God...
May they be with the living God,
may they be with the immortal God,
may they rest in God's strong arms
safe in his gentle hands...
May they sleep in peace,
may they live in peace,
may they be where the name of God is great...
May they be with the living God
now and on the day of judgment;
may they see their Redeemer, face to face,
and live in eternal light...
may they see their Redeemer, face to face,
and live in eternal light...
May they live in the Father's love,
may they live in the peace of the Son,
may they live in the Spirit's joy,
one with God forevermore...
Protect us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.
Yesterday's and today's prayer posts
may well have touched some very tender places
in your heart and your memories...
I hope the prayer above and this beautiful song
might be a healing grace for you...
