I read online, Lord,
that over the month of February
we'll gain an extra hour of daylight
- and that the gain of daylight hours
actually speeds up as we head to March!
Every day's a day that you've made, Lord,
but I confess a strong preference
for days when the sun sets later than sooner
and the moon nods in gracious agreement...
But winter or summer,
you're with me, Lord;
in spring and in fall,
you're with me, Lord;
in the light, in the darkness,
you're with me, Lord;
in sunshine and clouds,
you're with me, Lord;
in the warmth and the cold,
you're with me, Lord;
at sunrise and sunset,
you're with me, Lord;
all day and all night,
you're with me, Lord...
In good times and bad,
you're with me, Lord;
in joy and in sorrow,
you're with me, Lord;
in sickness and in health,
you're with me, Lord;
in plenty and in want,
you're with me, Lord;
in my losses, in my gains,
you're with me, Lord;
in peace and at war,
you're with me, Lord;
in my youth and in my aging,
you're with me, Lord...
in discouragement and fervor,
you're with me, Lord;
in searching and in finding,
you're with me, Lord;
in feasting and in famine,
you're with me, Lord;
in victory and defeat,
you're with me, Lord;
in faith and in doubt,
you're with me, Lord;
in success and in failure,
you're with me, Lord;
in turmoil and in calm,
you're with me, Lord;
in laughter and in tears,
you're with me, Lord;
in loneliness and fellowship,
you're with me, Lord;
in weakness and in strength,
you're with me, Lord;
in contentment and in heartache,
you're with me, Lord...
All this night and through tomorrow,
you're with me, Lord;
day in and day out,
you're with me, Lord..
now and forever,
you're with me, Lord...
No matter how long
or how short the day may be
help me always remember,
you're with me, Lord, you're with me...
Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.

O Lord, I know you are near,
standing always at my side.
You guard me from the foe,
and you lead me in ways everlasting.
Lord, you have searched my heart,
and you know when I sit and when I stand.
Your hand is upon me protecting me from death,
keeping me from harm.
Where can I run from your love?
If I climb to the heavens you are there;
if I fly to the sunrise or sail beyond the sea,
still I'd find you there.
You know my heart and its ways,
you who formed me before I was born
in the secret of darkness before I saw the sun
in my mother's womb.
