Sunday, April 9, was this year's Easter date
but you know better than anyone, Lord,
how Easter peace and joy rise
in different ways, in different hearts
in different times and seasons...
There are many, Lord, still waiting
to know the grace of Easter joy
deep within their souls;
to find that gentle paschal peace
that calms an anxious heart;
to meet you in their quiet prayer
and on the path they walk...
Long is the road for some, Lord,
from the Cross to the tomb
and back to the upper room;
some are still making their way to Emmaus,
walking with you but not quite ready
to discern your presence right by their side...
Gather us, then, beneath your Tree of Life,
shelter us under its outstretched arms;
open our eyes, our minds and our hearts
to the beauty that blooms in Easter glory
where once you offered your life for us...
Protect us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.

Come and gather beneath the Tree of Life
Come and gather beneath the Tree of Life
Root of wisdom, branch of peace,
fruit of healing and release
Come and gather beneath the Tree of Life
Here we raise the saving Cross of Jesus
singing praise to him who leads us on
from death into new life
Here beneath the branches of your mercy
we invoke your name, remember
how your love has set us free
