There's been a lot of rain, Lord,
and with that come the clouds
before, during and after you open the heavens
and shower us and the fields and forests,
the lawns and gardens and every open space
with droplets of grace, tears of blessing,
a downpour of mercy, pardon and peace...
Be patient, then, with us, Lord,
when we complain of cloudy days and rain
drenching, soaking, cleansing us
in springtime's sweet baptism,
bathing and anointing us,
born again,
for life and love forever...
Rain down, rain down,
rain down your love on your people;
rain down, rain down,
rain down your love, God of life!
Protect us, Lord, while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
