I thank you, Lord,

    for the gift of your presence around me...

For prayer that streams from my mind and heart,
    I thank you, Lord...

For peace that warms like sunlight,
    I thank you, Lord...

For the consolation of faith,
    I thank you, Lord...

For hope born of trust,
    I thank you, Lord,

For strength built on wisdom and grace,
    I thank you, Lord...

For all good gifts from your hand,
    I thank you, Lord...

But at the same time, Lord, I know so many

   who ache for your peace and presence...

        and so I pray...

Touch all who long for your peaceful presence,
    hear my prayer, O Lord...

Give ear to all who cry to you,
    hear my prayer, O Lord...

Shine bright on those whose path is dark,
    hear my prayer, O Lord...

Give comfort and joy to all in distress,
    hear my prayer, O Lord...

Be the hope of those who who struggle to trust,
    hear my prayer, O Lord...

Be strength for the weak in body and soul,
    hear my prayer, O Lord....

Be generous in sharing your gifts with all,
        hear my prayer, O Lord...

God of peace and mercy, 

    of light and comfort, hope and strength,

give all your people a share in the gifts

   that come from your hand and heart...
