Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 9/24

 

My most important task in this life, Lord

   is to know you and to love you

and apart from that

   nothing else is important

except insofar as something or someone else

   might help me come to know you and to love you...

As quick as I might be to say I love you

   (and it's more than possible that I say this

      too quickly and too often)

I'm not so quick to say I know you,

   but how can I love you 

      if I don't know you?

I want to know you, Lord,

I want to know you better than myself,

   better than my weaknesses

   better than the pride 

      - that keeps me from knowing you...

Teach me to know you, Lord,

   to know you and your ways,

   to know you and your truth,

   to know you, Lord, that I might love you...
