NIGHT PRAYER: Sunday 3/17

How could I ever countenance, Lord,
the death of someone I love
        - apart from my faith in you?

How might I bear such aching loss
    apart from my lasting hope
in the peace of life yet to come?

And apart from your arms' embrace, O Lord,
how could I ever let go
my cherished, my own, my beloved?

But in my faith and hope and love
I trust that those I've lost, Lord,
are safe now, home with you...

And I wait for that day of joy, Lord,
when we're all one in you
and I see their faces again...

Protect me, Lord while I'm awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

On this Saint Patrick's Day evening,
I pray this traditional Irish blessing
will bring peace to us all..

Until we meet again . . .
May the roads rise up to meet you,
May the winds be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.

Until we meet again . . .
And until we meet again,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
