It was in July 2008 that I wrote the first Monday Morning Offering. I wasn't intending for it to become a weekly feature but the response to that post was very positive and... so it began.  (In 20016, Word Among Us Press published a collection of my MMO's.)

Good morning, good God!

Today we offer, Lord,

    all these many Monday mornings,

    all the prayers we've lifted up

    and the folks who've raised their hearts to you

         in faith and trust and hope...

        

And I offer all the secret prayers

    that hitched a ride on MMOs,

    clinging to our prayer in common, 

    rising up to you like coffee 

        steaming from a cup...

Your golden light shines playfully

    and warms our open hearts,

    inviting us to bring you,

    on our dark and cloudy days,

        every need and prayer we own...

Receive our morning offering, Lord

    and bless us with your grace;

    mend and heal our broken hearts;

    touch our day and week with mercy

        and the night ahead with peace...

Amen.
