O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

America, America,

God shed his grace on thee...

Protect our nation day by day

    and guide us to your truth;

set our hearts to work for justice

    for the poor and all in need...

 

Shape and mold our independence

    with your wisdom and your purpose;

keep us mindful of your law of love

    and all that it demands...  

 

Restore our nation's beauty,

    shed your grace from sea to sea;

refine us in your mercy

    and ennoble all our deeds...

 

Make us guardians of creation

    and of liberty and freedom;

keep us faithful to the work

    you've entrusted to our care...

Keep vigil while while we sleep, Lord: 

    be our sentry through the night;

be the night light in our darkness

   and sweet blessing in our dreams...

Give us peaceful rest, O Lord, 

    'til the the light of day breaks through;

make us ready for tomorrow's course

    of sorrows, joys and grace...
