Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 3/23

I can't believe, Lord:

I can't believe so much 

    of what I read and hear...

Well, let me clarify that...

 

    I can't believe what I read and hear 

    when I no longer trust

    the word of the day

    to be true

and

    I can't believe what I read and hear:

    so much of it's just incredible

    and leaves me aghast

    and incredulous...

When the truth is so easily sold

    for scheming advantage and profit;

when lies roll sweet off the tongue

    and appear in print as authentic...

 

When the truth is no longer 

    my anchor, my mooring

I'm at sea, cut adrift 

    from the harbor of wisdom,

my shelter and safety,

    protection and strength...

 

So, deliver me, Lord, from all the lies,

    from offensive, odious, outright lies

and enlighten my mind with your Spirit's fire

    to weed out what's false

        and discern what's true,

    and to find my footing, a sure foundation

        for living my life in your light...

 

Amen.
