Good morning, good God!

 

Yesterday I posted the Palm Sunday readings

at the top of the sidebar on my blog

so that means Lent is drawing to a close...

 

I'm disappointed, Lord,

that I haven't lived this season

more faithfully, 

more fully

and more fruitfully,

- but there's still time left!

 

And I know your Spirit

is calling me yet

to fasting that leads me to prayer

and to prayer that leads me

to serve the poor...

 

And I know the temper 

would love me to give up:

to give up on making more time for prayer;

to give up on my Lenten sacrifices;

to give up on sharing more of my plenty

with those who have next to nothing.

 

But with your help - I won't give up.

And by your grace - I won't give in.

I'll redouble my efforts to live these days

preparing to celebrate Easter

through sacrifice and prayer

and emptying myself 

to fill the needs

of those who are hungry and homeless...

 

I offer you, Lord, these 13 days

that lead from now until Easter:

    draw me closer to you in prayer;

    open my heart to your word and your will;

    open my eyes to your presence around me;

    help me to know and confess my sins; 

    wash me clean with your saving grace;

    and lead me again to follow you:

        my way, my truth and my life...
