Pause for Prayer: FRIDAY 4/25

Yesterday, Lord,

I met with,

bumped into,

spoke to 

and crossed paths
with many people:

all sorts of encounters 

with all manner of folks

in all kinds of ways...

 

And even in those moments 

when I was all alone
my soul encountered others
in my mind, my thoughts

and my imagination;

in my feelings and emotions, 

in my sentiments and passions;

in the many secret depths

and corners of my heart...

 

And each one I met, Lord,
each one I bumped into,

each one I spoke to,

each one I thought of,
each one whose path crossed mine
was you...

 

Our souls met, Lord,

yours and mine,
in the lives of everyone I saw,
everyone I thought of,

everyone I spoke to,

everyone I welcomed,

everyone I turned away,

everyone I accepted

and everyone I ignored

physically, spiritually, 

tangibly and virtually...

 

You are my risen Jesus

and you come to me, Lord,

in the lives of all I meet and know...

 

So, I hope - I pray, Lord -

that I greeted you warmly, 

treated you kindly,
spoke to you in a friendly way, 

listened carefully to what you said,
dealt with you fairly,
gave you all the time you wanted,
helped you in any way I could

and gave of myself to you
generously, 

gently 

and graciously...

 

And if in any way

I failed to meet you
as warmly, lovingly,and honestly 

as l might have
then I hope - I pray, Lord - 

to do better today
when I bump into, meet,

speak to and cross paths with you

today...
