On the church calendar,
today is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows...
Good morning, good God!
Today, Lord, I offer and lift up to you
for mending and healing,
consoling and soothing
the burdens and worries,
the grief and the sorrows
that weigh on the hearts
of so many I know...
Some carry their sorrow in secret, Lord:
let them know that you know,
that you care and help carry
the loss and the pain
that clouds their days...
Some are laid low, bent down by sadness
filling their thoughts,
their hearts and their souls;
reach for them, Lord, and raise them up
to a place secure in your arms' embrace...
Some are pierced and wounded, Lord,
by words and deeds, betrayal and loss,
disappointment and hurt;
anoint them, gently and tenderly,
with your mercy, your grace and your peace...
To those in sorrow, Lord,
offer your comfort;
to broken, bruised souls,
open your heart;
for those who are burdened,
lighten their load;
to those lost in tears,
give your promise of joy;
to those lost in grief,
show the way to your peace...
Today, Lord, I offer and lift up in prayer
the burdens and worries,
the sorrows and grief
that weigh on the hearts
of so many I know...
Mend them and heal them,
soothe and console them,
and bring them all home
to the peace and the joy
that's yours, Lord, to give,
when no one else can...
Amen.
