Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 10/26

 I can't begin to count
   all the clean slates and pardons 
   the second chances and fresh starts,

   the do-overs and and new beginnings
you've freely offered me
   all through my life
   and just this year,
   not to mention last month
   - and yesterday -

and only you know, Lord,

   how many times and in how many ways

      you'll be lenient with me - again - today! 

There's simply no end to your mercy, Lord,
   to your tender patience  

      and generous indulgence,
   your forbearance, 

      your love and compassion...

Your mercy is never exhausted, Lord,

your kindness renews every morning,

your compassion is never spent...

- Lamentations 3:23

 

Help me never then take for granted, Lord, 
the mercy and pardon you offer me
   - over and over again -
regardless of how and how often
I fail in loving you and my neighbor

and even in loving myself...

So, this day, Lord, please open wide
   my heart and my soul,
   my ears and my eyes,
   my conscience and my awareness
to all the ways you will offer me

   a new beginning,

   a second start, 

   pardon, parole, 

   and a fresh, clean slate 

to try once again, as I have many times,

   to walk on the path of your truth... 
   

And as you, Lord, have freely extended to me
   the grace of your cleansing mercy,
so help me be quick in offering all 

  the gift of my patience and pardon...
