Pause for Prayer: TUESDAY 6/2

People often ask us to pray for them... 

And we often ask others to pray for us... 

This morning's is about just that...

My heart and soul, my pockets and arms 

    are filled, O Lord,
        with the people I pray for today...

You know who they are and you what they need 
   and you don't need me 
      to remind you...

But there's something's sacred
   in saying aloud the names of those 
      who've asked me to pray for them...

There's something holy 
   in whispering to you
      what they once whispered to me...

And there's something graced
   in simply remembering
      the prayer I saw in their eyes...

 
(Let's all take some time here 

    to share with the Lord the names of those 

        who've asked for our prayers 

    - and those, too, who may not have asked 

        and yet hold a place in our hearts...)

 

My heart and soul, my pockets and arms 

    are filled, O Lord,
        with the people I pray for today...

Hear every prayer I whisper 
   for those who've asked me, Lord,
to lift their names and needs in prayer

    with faith and trust and hope in you...

Amen.

Never underestimate the power of prayer
