Today's saint is a giant in the history of Christian spirituality: St. John of the Cross.

Here is a simple, beautiful prayer written by John of the Cross and very appropriate for Advent:
O blessed Jesus,
give me stillness of soul in you.
Let your mighty calmness reign in me.
Rule me, O King of gentleness,

A great prayer offered by St John of the Cross....this is helpful when waiting in the various lines. For example when shopping, mailing packages or yesterday when it took hours to get home.
