A post script on the item just below...
My sister reminds me that my father drove a '36 Chevy until until he bought a brand new '52 model of the same make. So my dad held on to his wheels a year longer than I kept mine.
But my dad's affection for his old car went even further. He would occasionally visit the '36 at the junkyard he'd sold it to, just to check in on it... until, part by part, it was finally a part of automobile history.
My affection doesn't run that deep but it does seem that I may have inherited something here from my paternal roots.
