May the dawn of his coming find us praising God!

Source: PrayCatholic

One of my favorite texts in the former Sacramentary was the alternate Opening Prayer for the First Sunday of Advent. As you know, the alternate prayers do not exist in any form in the new Missal. However, there are many opportunities to use these texts in times of prayer outside of Mass. So, at our sung Evening Prayer tonight I was pleased to pray these beautiful words once again:

Father in heaven,
our hearts desire the warmth of your love
and our minds are searching
for the light of your Word.
Increase our longing for Christ our Savior
and give us the strength to grow in love,
that the dawn of his coming
may find us rejoicing in his presence
and welcoming the light of his truth.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
Amen.

What beautiful words for this time of year. Thanks for sharing the parts that feel like home from the old text.
