I've placed the pie chart of the liturgical year above to remind us that we're about to enter the Lent-Easter cycle of our annual celebration of the mysteries of our redemption.
This weekend finds us at the end of the green slice at roughly the 2 o'clock position. As you can see, the Lent-Easter cycle comprises more than a quarter of the liturgical year, second in length only to the long stretch of Ordinary Time between Pentecost and the First Sunday of Advent.
Let's pray for one another that we make the most of these holy seasons by opening our hearts to the Spirit in prayer, fasting and care for the poor.
