What are the chances that on the way to Mass on the weekend of Laetare Sunday I would find myself stopped at a red light behind a car with the license plate: LAETUS?
"Laetare" is the imperative of the Latin verb laeto, "I make joyful" while "laetus" would be an adjectival form with the same meaning.
Rejoice! Lent is half over and we're half way to Easter!

Too bad you didn't get a chance to find out who the owner is and have a conversation with him. (It's masculine gender.) But just knowing that there's someone who feels like proclaiming his happiness brings a smile.
