Praying 10 minutes today: THURSDAY 5/17

Find a quiet time and place to pray... take a few deep breaths... be still and know that God is near...

A word to reflect on:
May God be gracious to us and bless us; may God's face shine upon us. May the people praise you, O God!   - Psalm 67

You never turn your face from me, Lord:
not even for a moment do you ever look away...
You never turn your back on me:
you are always with me, by my side...
You never take your eyes off me:
you hold me in your gaze, you watch my every step
and when I stumble you are there to lift me up...
Lord, let your face shine upon me:
warm on my cheek, bright in my eyes...
When I try to hide from you,
when I think you've turned away,
when I can't believe you want to look at me,
         especially then, with your finger,
lift and tilt my chin, up
         out of this day's sadness...
Turn me towards you:
   let the light of your face shine full on mine;
       my face reflecting
the warmth and light of yours...
Lord, let your face shine upon me...
And if I sometimes retreat into the shadows of my fears,
   let my doubts melt away,
warmed by the light of your countenance...
Let my eyes adjust to take in
the brilliance of the grace your face shines
      upon my soul...
Let me bask in your presence as I might,
on a summer's day, rest in the sun by the shore...
Be gracious to me and bless me, Lord:
smile upon me with kindness and mercy...
Let me find a place, a time for prayer today, Lord
   and in the stillness,
tilt my chin up to your face
and let me look into the eyes
that never fail to hold me in their gaze...
Lord, let your face shine upon me
   and I will praise you,
I will praise you for the light of your face...
