Well, I know we're all going to celebrate the Eucharist - but will it be for the Ascension or for the Seventh Sunday of Easter?
That depends on where you live.
In my diocese, we celebrated Ascension Thursday on... well... Thursday. But in most of the US the feast is transferred to this Sunday, May 20. (Perhaps our international readers will let us know what's happening on their local liturgical calendars.)
Whichever the case where you live and pray, the readings and commentary them for both feasts can be found at this earlier post.

Saturday evening Mass: Ascension. Sunday Masses: 7th Sunday. Diocese of Richmond, Va.
ReplyDeleteHere in the UK the weekday feast of the Ascension has been transferred to Sunday so I guess the seventh Sunday of Easter, doesn’t get celebrated at all. Next year maybe the Bishops will put it back where it should be: 40 days after Easter.I'm still following the Thursday feast so it fits with the Novena.Anglicans and Methodists in the UK had Ascension on Thursday as far as I know.
ReplyDeleteBabs: do you know the thinking, the rationale behind that arrangement?
ReplyDeleteI wrote about the same topic on my blog with some explanation provided:
