Sunday prayers

For your prayerful review:
last week's opening prayer for
the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
O God, who in the abasement of your Son
have raised up a fallen world,
fill your faithful with holy joy,
for on those you have rescued from slavery to sin
you bestow eternal gladness.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
to which the people respond,
Amen.

For your prayerful preparation:
the opening prayer for this weekend,
the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
O God, who show the light of your truth
to those who go astray,
so that they may return to the right path,
give all who for the faith they profess
are accounted Christians
the grace to reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ
and to strive after all that does it honor.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
to which the people respond,
Amen.

  1. Can these sentences be diagrammed? Quite a mouthful for you. Easy duty for the people in the pews. So be it. Amen.

  2. Of course, it wouldn't be easy to diagram the Psalms, either, would it? Making the people in the pews have to pay attention to what is spoken isn't all bad.
