How long did it take the wash of waves
to smooth and polish stones like these,
gems upon the shore?
Take not so long, O Lord,
'til waves of grace and mercy's tides
smooth my roughest edges
and polish to a shine
what's dull and faded in my soul...
Let ocean breakers sweep me out to sea
and wash me back to shore
where I might rest with you
who make me who I am...
