Pause for Prayer: THURSDAY 8/7

Whether almost 5 or 85 or somewhere in between,
it sometimes seems the world's own weight
rests square upon our shoulders, heavy on our hearts...

Worried by our troubled cares, we sit just off the road,
pondering all that's past and gone,
waiting for what's yet to come...

It's all too much for youth to bear
and older shoulders droop for having carried
fear's familiar freight for far too long...

So, when you find us by the roadside, Lord,
come sit and keep us company, come heal the past
and lift our hearts in faith towards hope...

Then, having laid our burdens down,
though we be 5 or 85 or somewhere in between,
walk every step right by our side and show our hearts your way...

(One of my cantors and her family are on vacation in Ireland.
The lad in the photo is her son and he's almost 5.

  1. Love the photo. The lad really looks as if he is a genuine Irish lad!
