I saw robins on my roof today:
they turned my heart to spring
though it's a couple months away
and who knows how much snow
will blanket that same peak
before the ground begins to thaw...
I Googled robins and I learned
they don't fly far
when winter comes our way:
they stay and wait with us
for warmer days to melt the ice,
for spring to come again...
Send me robins, Lord,
reminding me year 'round
that every winter yields at last
to sunlight, warmth and green,
that my soul has its seasons, too,
and spring is on the way...
Amen.
