What a shame
when the burdens and fears of the day
keep us from seeing, hearing, tasting, sensing,
touching, knowing and enjoying
the simple blessings and joys
of that same day...
Though my day may have its troubles, Lord,
let nothing keep me
from its new beginning,
its peace and sweet refreshment,
its grace and simple gifts...
Let nothing keep me from your presence, Lord,
the gift of your peace
and the gentle healing touch
you offer me
today...
