Pocket Prayer for TUESDAY 3/26

This morning I'll be celebrating the funeral of a parishioner who's also a friend.  He's been sick for some time and I found out at his wake that for the past two years he's fallen asleep each night holding his pocket Cross (above) from 2016...

Just a small wooden Cross, Lord,
slips right in my pocket...

Just a small wooden Cross, Lord,
meant to remind me of your love...

Just a small wooden Cross, Lord,
shared with thousands of others...

Just a small wooden Cross, Lord,
finding a home in pockets, purses
and, most of all, in others' hearts...

What a blessing to know, Lord,
the many ways your mercy and grace
find their way into our souls...

Welcome home to heaven, Lord,
those who come to your door,
bearing the Cross you bore for us...

Amen.
