NIGHT PRAYER: Wednesday 5/13

This edition of NIGHT PRAYER requires a little homework on your part: a fill-in-the-blank exercise - and there are no wrong answers!

You are always at my side, Lord:
help me remember the times today
when you were there to help and comfort me,
even if I missed you in those moments...

Even, and especially in hard times, Lord,
you never fail to be generous in your love for me:
help me see, in the day just past, the blessings you offered me
- even if I missed them when they came...

You are always ready to forgive, Lord:
help me take an inventory of my day
and the times I failed in loving you in others...

Your Spirit never fails to teach and  guide me, Lord:
help me remember what I learned today
that I might carry it forward into tomorrow...

You know every word I speak, Lord:
hear my prayer for those whose names
I carry in my heart tonight...

And here's just a few more things, Lord,
I want to share with you before I go to bed...

Protect me, Lord, as I lie awake
and watch over me when I fall asleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.
