Pause for Prayer: FRIDAY 5/1

Today's the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker.

Joseph is the patron saint of all workers
so let's offer this litany of prayer to him...

Do you know someone who needs a job?
someone recently furloughed, laid off, unemployed?

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Do you know someone who's overworked,
doing two or more jobs
and raising a family as well?

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of laborers around the world
who are underpaid, neglected and abused...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who grow and raise your food,
who stock the shelves, bake the bread,
cut the meat, arrange the fresh produce,
ring you up and bag your groceries...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of all those whose hard, gritty work
benefits you, your comfort and your life style...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who are victims
of human trafficking...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who live
from pay check to pay check...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who prepare your food,
cook your food, mix your drinks,
serve your food and clean up after you...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those whose everyday work
puts their lives on the line
for your safety and freedom...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who repair and fix
your car, your plumbing, your computer,
your appliances, your cell phone
your flooded basement and all the things
you're sure you need back tomorrow...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who care for your health
no matter how sick you are,
risking their own health for your recovery...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who teach and instruct you,
coach you and train you,
preach to you, pray for you,
sing, play and act for you,
write poems and prose for you to enjoy,
bring you the news, the good and the bad...

St. Joseph, pray for us...

Think of those who in hundreds of ways
make your life each day
finer, truer, happier, safer,
more healthy, free and peaceful
and all on the count of the work they do,
the work they need,
the work that serves and gives glory to God!

St. Joseph, pray for us...
