How long did it take, Lord,
to smooth and polish these stones
in the wash of ocean waves?
Hundreds of years?
millions of waves?
eons of patient waiting?
Take not so long, with tides of grace
to smooth all my rough edges, Lord,to polish me with grace until I shine,
until my face reflects your glory
slowly washing me in waves,
patiently persistent,
upon your timeless shores...
