How long did it take, Lord,

to smooth and polish these stones

in the wash of ocean waves?

 

Hundreds of years?

billions of waves?

eons of patient waiting?

Take not so long

to smooth all my rough edges, Lord,
to polish me with mercy 'til I shine,
until my face reflects your glory
slowly washing me in waves of grace,
patiently persistent,
along your timeless shores...
