NIGHT PRAYER: Friday 1/14

Sweep me clean, O Lord:
    clear my mind and heart
    of all that weakens my belief,
    tests my trust in you
    and isolates me in fear...    

Sustain me, O Lord: 

    nurture in my soul 

    what stretches me in faith, 

    strengthens me in hope 

    and leads me to a selfless love...

Purify my soul, O Lord:
    pardon and forgive
    my failings and my faults,
    my carelessness and sins
    my foolishness and pride...

Save me, O Lord: 

    rescue and deliver me  

    from losing touch with you, 

    from ignoring others' help,

    from thinking I can make it on my own...

Shelter me, O Lord:
    hide me and protect me,
    in the tent of your safekeeping,
    'neath the mantle of your blessing
    in a blanket of your warmth...

Embrace me, O Lord: 

    hold me near and close

    in the strong arms of your mercy, 

    in your free, redeeming love, 

    in the power of your Spirit...

Call me, O Lord: 

    to share my faith with others, 

    to speak my hope with certainty, 

    to love in word and deed

    and to praise and bless your name... 

Sweep me clean, O Lord:

    sweep clean my soul, my Jesus,

    with the broom of your sweet mercy,

    with the power of your Spirit,

    sweep my soul with grace and peace...

 

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake,

keep vigil while I sleep

that awake, I might keep watch with you

and asleep rest in your peace...

Amen.
