NIGHT PRAYER: Saturday 3/5

I pray for a good night’s sleep, Lord, 

and I pray for those whose sleep tonight

will be stolen by the fury and sounds of war...

 

I pray for those who this night 

put their lives on the line 

for their nation and for the world

and I pray for their families and friends

 - and all of us in their debt...

 

I pray for those whose poverty 

leaves them in harm’s way this night

 - adding burden to burden to burden...

 

I pray for those in flight

who've left their homes and homeland

seeking a place of safety, refuge and hope...

 

And I pray for those haunted this night 

by thoughts, fears and memories

in need of reassurance, healing and consolation...

 

Over all of us, Lord, 

spread the mantle of your protection:

deliver us from every evil 

and grant us peace in our day, 

the peace that's yours alone to give...

 

Protect us, Lord while we're awake

and watch over us while we sleep

that awake, we might keep watch with you

and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.
