The whole world, Lord,
is having trouble falling asleep these nights...
We toss and turn in fear of war
and madmen playing games with lives,
writing history in the blood of innocents:
families and children,
fleeing their homes with no place to go,
running from death and praying for life...
Will you heal these twisted monsters,
hungering, lusting for power,
soulless in their drive to harm, to take,
to dominate for their own gain
at such a tragic price?
Will you, Lord?
Will you share with us your wisdom,
give us your good counsel
and reveal the path that leads to peace
and save us from incurring or inflicting
just the harm and pain we so much want to end?
Will you, Lord?
Will you reach out with your loving arms
and hold, protect and keep the people of Ukraine,
strengthening their firm resolve
to save their native homeland
and their country's rightful future?
Will you, Lord?
Will you bring the peace
that's only yours to offer?
Will you make the peace
that we've yet failed to find?
Will you share us the peace
that alone can heal our hearts?
Will you, Lord?
Will you show and help us, Lord,
to do what we can do,
to do what we must do,
- and all you bid us do -
to find and make and keep the peace
to heal our broken world?
Will you, Lord?
The whole world, Lord,
is having trouble falling asleep these nights
but still we pray:
Protect us, Lord while we're awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
