I suppose, Lord,
if rabbits deliver chocolate eggs in baskets,
then chicks might lay their eggs
in the branches of a tree!
More confounding, though, and curious
is the Easter faith we hold that:
in suffering there is healing,
in pardoning, we're forgiven,
in darkness, light is born,
in sadness, joy springs forth,
in giving, we receive
and in dying there is life,
there is peace that has no end...
Curious and confounding?
Yes, but also
grace-filled and redeeming,
merciful and hope-filled,
gift for which we're grateful,
peace for which we long
and joy to fill our hearts!
Amen.
