I so easily forget, Lord...

In my peace of mind

I so easily forget

how many are deeply troubled...

 

In the liberty I enjoy

I so easily forget

the embattled of Ukraine...

 

In my comfortable life

I so easily forget

those who struggle every day...

 

In my good health

I so easily forget

the chronically, terminally ill...

 

Loved by family and  friends

I so easily forget

those who are lonely tonight...

 

Hopeful and sure in my faith

I so easily forget 

those burdened by doubt and fear...

 

I so easily, so often, forget...

 

Make me grateful, Lord,

don't let me forget,

all the blessings and gifts that are mine...

 

Make me heedful, Lord,

don't let me forget,

all my neighbors' wants and needs...

 

Make me ready, Lord,

don't let me forget,

to give with a generous heart...

Make me keen, Lord,

in thought, word and deed,

that with you, we're all in this together...

Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake

and watch over me while I sleep

that awake, I might keep watch with you

and asleep rest in your peace...

Amen. 

 

Tonight's music isn't a hymn or prayer

    but rather a song that reminds us

        of whom we must pray for and serve...
