I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise shall be always on my lips...
- Psalm 34:1
We often pray for God to bless us.
For us to bless the Lord is to thank and praise God
- just for being God!
I will bless you, Lord, at all times,
your praise will always be on my lips...
Not just when I'm content and happy,
no, I'll bless you when I'm heartbroken and sad...
Not just when I'm grateful,
no, I'll bless you in my need and in my longing...
Not just when I want to or I feel like it,
but when I'm distracted and preoccupied...
Not just when my heart is filled with song
but even when I'm choking on thanksgiving,
and words of praise are sticking in my throat
- even then, Lord, will I bless your holy name...
I will bless you, Lord, at all times,
your praise will always be on my lips...
When I fear you've left me all alone,
I'll praise you for your faithfulness...
When I'm hurting and need comfort
I'll bless you for your kindness...
When I can't let go my sins and can't forgive myself
I'll bless your constant mercy...
I'll bless you in the bad times
as I bless you in the good times...
I'll bless you in my sickness
as I bless you in my health...
I'll bless you in my weakness
as I bless you when I'm strong...
I'll bless you in my doubts
as I bless you in my certainty...
I'll bless you in my loneliness
as I do when friends surround me...
I'll bless you in my failures
as I do when I succeed...
I'll bless you in the darkness
as I bless you in the daylight...
I'll bless you in my hopelessness
as when my faith is strong...
I'll bless you in my sadness
as I bless you in my joy...
I will bless you, Lord, at all times,
your praise will be always on my lips...
I'll bless you at all times, Lord,
your praise is ever on my lips:
you're my peace
on my hardest days;
you're generous with gifts
I've yet to discover;
you hear and answer all my prayers
in your own way, in your own time;
you love me without fail
even when my heart is cold;
you're present by my side
even when I turn away from you;
you understand my endless tears,
you wipe each one away;
you pardon all my sins
past any mercy I deserve;
you're patient with my folly,
you're my wisdom and my light;
you're faithful when I'm not
and you're kindness knows no bounds;
you're my hope, beyond all hope,
you're my reason to go on
and your love's the greatest gift, Lord,
the only gift I need...
I will bless you, Lord, at all times,
your praise will always be on my lips...
Open my mind, my heart and my soul
in thanksgiving and in prayer;
I'll bless you, Lord at all times,
your praise ever on my lips...
Protect me, Lord, while I'm awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...
Amen.
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
When I hunger, when I thirst,
When I'm last and when I'm first
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
When I'm weak and when I'm tired
When I'm tested by the fire
I will bless the Lord at all times
And his praise will continually be on my lips
And I'll cling to and trust in his sweet promises
That his goodness and mercy
Will follow me all the days of my life
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
When I stumble, when I fall
When I rise above it all
I will bless the Lord at all times
And his praise will continually be on my lips
And I'll cling to and trust in his sweet promises
That his goodness and mercy
Will follow me all the days of my life
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
There's nothing down here, nothing above
Could ever separate me from his love
From his love
Oh, not life, not death
Not the past or the present
- Or tomorrow
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord at all times
When I hunger, when I thirst,
When I'm last and when I'm first
I will bless the Lord at all times
I will bless the Lord
I will bless the Lord
I will bless the Lord
Oh, let's bless the Lord,
let's bless the Lord, tonight
Oh, let's bless the Lord
let's bless the Lord...
