Lord, help me let go my grown-up pretenses

   and come before you as a child...

 

In my babbling and crying

   my childlike speech,

hear the prayer of my heart

   and answer me, Lord...

 

When I'm easily distracted,

   not paying attention,

pay attention to me

   and show me your love...

   

With the milk of your kindness,

   in your arms' warm embrace,

give me comfort, Lord, and rock me to sleep

   in your grace and your peace...
