Pause for Prayer: FRIDAY 8/27

What's wrong with this picture?
I'm sure you see right away how the words "entire" and "exclusions"
can't describe the same sales event! I was about to enter the store and make a friendly complaint but then -
I came to a realization that led me to prayer...

Lord,
I'd like to promise you everything:
all my heart, all my soul and all my mind,
I'd like to promise you my entire self -
and sometimes I even tell you 
that this is what I'm going to do!

But then it hits me and I realize
that when I promise you my entire self, well -
some exclusions apply...

I want to love you with my entire heart, Lord,
but exclusions may apply
when I choose to keep some corners of my heart
for my own purposes
which aren't always synced with yours...

I want to love you with my entire soul, Lord,
but exclusions may apply
when I fail to keep my soul
a worthy place
for you to dwell within me...

And I want to love you with my entire mind, Lord,
but exclusions may apply
when I entertain ideas and dreams and schemes
that fail to keep me mindful of you
and all you ask of me...

I know, Lord, that in your love for me
no exclusions apply:
you love me fully, freely
and with all the forgiveness I'll ever need...

Help me, Lord to decrease the ways
I exclude you from my life
and increase my desire to love you, truly,
with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind...
