Lord, we're enraged by many things
but don't let us get so angry
that we lose sight
of all that's good and holy
in this motley crew we call the Church...
We're disappointed, Lord,
but don't let our discouragement
slip into empty hopelessness
and we forget
that your mercy's always greater
than our sins...
We're embarrassed, Lord,
but before our shame defeats us
let it humble us and cleanse us
of our failings and our sins...
We're impatient, Lord,
with the snail-paced response
or no response at all
so light a fire in our hearts
'til we discern what we can do
and with your help - get it done...
We're torn and broken, Lord,
worried and confused,
distracted and confounded,
demoralized and lost...
Come, heal and mend us,
help us find the way,
care for us and calm us,
lift our drooping spirits, Lord,
anoint us with your wisdom...
Shepherd us, O God
from the darkness into light,
from worry into hope,
out of chaos to the truth,
from the desert to the doorstep
of your mercy and your grace...
