East Bay Bike Path: photo by Juan Rodriguez |
A chorus of early birds wakes me, just outside my window,
they're rehearsing for an impromptu concert
and their cheerful chirping tells me:
they know nothing of Corona...
Next door at the convent, tulips are lining up
all around the sisters' home, tall and single file:
bright and beautiful, their colors bear no tinge,
no trace of darker, viral shades...
A friend bikes the East Bay Path in Providence
'neath skies in love with the river's rippling blue,
all crystal clear and clean, innocent,
free of all that's foul: pure and undefiled...
But not all's well in the world, not well at all!
Still, nature isn't failing us this spring, she's rising up
with promise of everything we long and pray and hope for.
Rise up in us, Lord: we need your springtime in our hearts!
