6/20/20

NIGHT PRAYER: Saturday 6/20

In tomorrow's gospel, Lord, you'll ask,
"Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground
   without your Father's knowledge..."

You know, you're familiar with,
every single detail of my life, Lord.
You notice things about me and my life
that totally escape my own attention!
And you hold everything about me
   in your mind and heart...

You know and you hold close
   all my joys and sorrows,
   my ups and downs,
   my hopes and dreams,
   my regrets and disappointments...

As this day ends, you scoop up in your arms
   everything I did today
and all the things I meant to do
   - but didn't get around to...

You delight in my good works, Lord
   and you pledge your grace
to help me do even better tomorrow...

You see the whole of my life in progress
and you coach my efforts to reach my goals
and draw ever closer to you...

Things I see as failure, Lord,
   are in your view,
steps on my way to victory...

In your eyes, Lord, my life's worth more
   than many, many sparrows:
help me never forget
that this how you love me...

Protect me, Lord, as I stay awake
keep your eyes on my while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace...

Amen.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow by Lauryn Hill and Tanya Blount

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me

His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
I sing because I'm happy
I sing because I'm free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me…

I sing because I´m happy
I sing because I´m free
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me
He watches me
I know
He watches
Me
